This year’s King of the Causeway was very exciting and difficult for the riders who raced across the Queen Isabella Memorial Causeway onto South Padre Island.  High winds, traffic jams and fast riders were some of the elements the Brownsville River Rockets race team had to face.  Below are the River Rockets who placed in the race and the ITT held earlier that Saturday morning:

King of the Causeway Road Race (Male Division)

Cesar Oliva - 2nd Place

Joe Aguilar - 3rd Place

King of the Causeway Road Race (Female Division)

Terry Cuellar - 1st Place

Individual Time Trial (ITT)

Joe Aguilar - 3rd Place (Men's Open Division)

Cesar Oliva - 1st Place (Men's 40-49)

Zuriel Vasquez - 1st Place (Men's 30-39)

Xavier Hernandez - 2nd Place (Men's 30-39)

David Hernandez - 6th Place (Men's 30-39)

Great job guys (and gals) !

It's summertime!  Get off the couch, turn off the TV and get out and ride your bike!

Follow these safety tips from the River Rockets:

1.  Always wear a helmet.

2.  Check your bike (tires, chain, etc.) before you ride.

3.  Always ride with the flow of traffic or on your right side of the road.

4.  When riding around traffic or other riders, turn off the IPOD!

5.  Try not to ride alone in case something happens to you!
